Hertz Car Rental in Linz
You’ll find the city of Linz in the north of Austria, around 20 miles south of the border with the Czech Republic. The city itself stands either side of the mighty River Danube, which is how many tourists arrive. If you pick up a rental car in Linz, however, you’ll be able to explore the sights of the historic city centre, and explore the rolling wooded hills and mountains nearby too. Luckily, it’s easy to drive around: Linz is a hub for Austria’s road network, with the A1 motorway giving easy access to destinations to the west and east. The A7 motorway meanwhile loops right through the town, heading north.
Linz is an interesting mix of old and new. There’s plenty of culture, food and shopping to be sampled. If you tour around with a rental car here, you’ll find both modern architecture, like the Lentos Art Museum and Ars Electronica gallery, alongside ancient landmarks, like the two cathedrals, one baroque and one gothic. Around the main central square, look out for the towering ‘Plague Column’, built to remember victims of the medieval disease. Postlingberg Hill overlooks the city; you can reach the top by taking a delightful period tram, while down on the riverbank you’ll find the impressive contemporary Brucknerhaus Concert Hall.
