Hertz Car Rental in Pisa
The city of Pisa stands in northern Italy on a plain just five miles from the Mediterranean coast. The River Arno snakes through the centre of the city. If you have a rental car you’ll probably want to head straight to the world-famous Leaning Tower but Pisa has plenty of other sights to see too. If you have a rental car you’ll be able to tour further afield too. Close by, for example, is the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Park, a protected area of sandy beaches, dunes and lakes. And a short drive inland is the romantic walled city of Lucca.
The Leaning Tower is the sight that lures visitors to Pisa from around the world. It’s the pretty decorated bell tower alongside a magnificent cathedral, and would be overshadowed by the historic church buildings of the magnificent walled Piazza dei Miracoli area, if it hadn’t suffered such renowned subsidence. If you have a rental car, you’ll be able to see the tower and drive further into the city too. Along the river is a row of Renaissance palaces and opposite is the Santa Maria della Spina. This is an ornate marble chapel, which houses a thorn supposedly from Christ’s crucifixion.
