Hertz Car Rental in Vigo
The city of Vigo stands in the North West corner of Spain, facing the Atlantic Ocean. It’s only 12 miles north of the Portuguese border and if you rent a car in Vigo, there’s plenty to explore. The city occupies the south side of a spectacular inlet, Ria de Vigo, and is surrounded by some of Spain’s most dramatic coastal scenery, with plenty of picturesque views of mountains and surrounding islands. Drivers find the road connections are good - the A-55 leads south to Porto in Portugal, the A-52 head east to Ourense and the E-1 will get you direct to Santiago de Compostela to the north.
If you have a rental car you’ll find the city of Vigo leads back up the hill from its waterfront and harbour. You’ll soon reach the attractive Casco Vello, the historic centre of Vigo with narrow streets and alleyways between overhanging buildings. There’s a busy modern centre too, with lively shops and restaurants, which is an important regional centre for business and entertainment. You’ll find several acclaimed museums too - the Museum of Contemporary Art stands in a former 19thcentury prison and the Museum of the Sea has displays ranging from tinned food to naval warships. Look out too for the remains of the frequently fought-over Castro fortress.
